QVC. Were the second largest
broadcaster in the country. We do over $7 billion in business. Were
constantly looking at the most exciting ways to engage, enrich and
entertain our customers. Were used to doing big things, and our
talented Finance Team manages the big numbers and the small details.
QVCs Corporate Finance Team is in search of a Senior Tax Analyst to
work at our Corporate HQ in West Chester, PA.
This position
reports to the State Tax Manager. The purpose of the job is to control
the Companys tax liability through tax compliance, tax audits, tax
accounting, research and planning, and to maintain the various tax
systems that support this function. It is directly responsible for all
aspects of the Companys state and local tax liabilities including
income, franchise, sales/use, property and miscellaneous taxes. It
requires a commitment to consistently work beyond traditional hours to
completely resolve issues and provide accurate and timely answers to
other areas of the Company.
This position prepares and/or reviews
$35 plus million state income or franchise tax returns, and $2 plus
million in property tax returns and payments.
COMPLIANCE (40%) -
Prepare/review state or local income and franchise tax returns,
sales/use tax returns, property tax returns and other filings with
governmental authorities such as annual reports and business licenses.
Maintains/develops various computer applications used to prepare
various tax returns. Maintains/develops computer applications to
properly accrue and bill sales and use tax. Prepares state
apportionment schedule for all QVC companies.
AUDITS (20%) - Under
direction of the Tax Manager, conducts sales/use or other state and
local tax audits at the field agent level. Develops responses to
proposed assessments.
ACCOUNTING FOR TAXES (20%) - Identify
potential state tax exposures and determine proper GAAP accounting for
such exposures. Determine proper GAAP accounting and financial
statement disclosure for audit settlements following Sarbanes Oxley
requirements. Prepares/assits in FAS 5 and FIN 48 analysis.
RESEARCH
AND PLANNING (20%) - Respond to questions regarding the proper tax
treatment of a proposed or completed transaction. Respond to proposed
third-party contracts addressing tax issues. Identify and implement
changes to the Companys systems to maintain compliance with any tax law
changes. Maintain the legal entity integrity of the subsidiaries
arms-length transactions to minimize taxes. Review proposed and
enacted state, local and federal legislation to determine its impact on
any QVC company. Identify and implement changes to the Companys systems
to maintain compliance with any tax law changes. Other duties or
responsibilities as assigned by the State Tax Manager or Vice
President, Tax.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA or MS in Tax preferred.
10+ years experience in multistate taxation at a large corporation or equivalent national public accounting firm.
Strong
knowledge of and ability to interpret state and local revenue codes,
regulations, administrative announcements, and court decisions.
Proficiency
with computerized tax preparation software and tax research software
required. Experience with RIA, BNA, CCH, Vertex and CorpTax a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Ability to deal concurrently with multiple tasks required.
Ability to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines required.
